The Ebola virus can be transmitted sexually Effects studies in 1999 showed traces of Ebola can remain in semen for some time after infection.

Now scientists working with the survivors of a terrible disease, warned that this period - a few months. Another group of scholars have stated about the scary possibilities of sexual transmission of the virus.

In Sierra Leone, the scientists found viral RNA in semen samples in approximately half of the representatives of the stronger sex of the 93 survivors who participated in the study. The probability of finding viral DNA decreased over time: six months after infection, the virus was observed in sperm 26 people, and after 9 months - only 11. Only 1 patient RNA virus lasted as long as 10 months.

Detection of viral RNA does not give a guarantee that the survivors will inevitably infect their sexual partner: scientists say that all depends on the severity of infection, number of viral RNA in the body and genetics "victims".

"We still have little information to assess the risk of infection through sexual contact and also through oral sex and other contact with viable virus in the semen of men, - scientists explain from Sierra Leone and the world health organization. - Today at the American center for control and prevention of diseases in Atlanta experts want to isolate the virus from semen samples and to better analyze it."

Another group of scientists, working in Liberia, published in the journal New England Journal of Medicine research article describing the confirmation of sexual transmission of the virus. 44-year-old lady from Montserrado County Ebola was diagnosed on 20 March
