The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin believes that the European Union States will not extend the penalties regarding former bureaucrats.

The EU in March next year plans to review the sanctions list on a number of Ukrainian ex-officials of the reign of Viktor Yanukovych, which were imposed due to suspicions of stealing state funds. In the sanctions list there are about 20 former occupying the high post of bureaucrats of Ukraine.

"I think Europe will not do. As a rule, they impose a maximum punishment of 2 years. But I dream that by way of conviction of a number of our former high position bureaucrats will extend the detention of their assets abroad ", - said the Prosecutor General in a statement released on the first day of the weekend interview to Ukrainian newspaper " the Facts ".

The European Union in March extended for a period from three months to a year of punishment against the ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and 17 of his entourage, which were imposed in connection with allegations of theft of public funds. Regarding Yanukovych and 13 penalties were increased for one year, until March 6, 2016.

in March 2014 the European Union on request of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine froze for one year the assets of 18 former Ukrainian officials suspected of misappropriation of state property. In March of this year, these penalties were extended.

in the list adopted in March 2014 were from the beginning included 18 people, then it was expanded to 22. Later, the EU again reduced the list to 18. The list excluded the former head of SBU Alexander Yakimenko, ex-Advisor of President Igor Kalinin, the son of ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov Alex and ex-Deputy head of the presidential administration Andriy Portnov.
