The government of Cyprus has announced that it will continue to block a new round of negotiations of Turkey's accession to the European Union. Taking into account the opinion of Nikos Anastasiadis, Turkey has not made sufficient efforts to maintain the current negotiations ethnically divided nation.

Cyprus President Nikos Anastasiadis announced that so far there is nothing that could force Cyprus to stop blocking negotiations between the EU and Turkey. According to him, Ankara has made little effort to combine ethnically disparate groups, informs The Washington Post.

Earlier on Monday Minister for foreign Affairs of Cyprus Ioannis Kasoulides made a similar statement in his interview to the Greek TV channel ERT. He told the Agency that although many member States want the EU negotiations with Turkey, Cyprus will hold the lines until Ankara does not fulfill its own obligations.
