The mood of the PACE against Russia softens stance about the fact that the country will return to the Assembly only in case of resumption of office, begins to find understanding, said the Federation Council speaker Valentina Matvienko.

"We are seeing a softening, attempts to engage us in dialogue, contacts," she told reporters on Wednesday.

Speaking in General about the interaction of Russian parliamentarians with their European counterparts, the Federation Council speaker said that he sees "a softening of the stance towards Russia" and the various structures of the COE, as well as among them the PACE and the Congress (the Congress of local and regional authorities of the Council of Europe).

"The Federal Parliament does not feel isolated. On the contrary, our contacts have become more intense and not only on our initiative. We do not have deficits in cooperation (with European colleagues) in order to develop common approaches to dialogue, " she said.
