FP: elections in Ukraine were " revenge of the oligarchs "
Elections in Ukraine on Sunday, showed that the local authorities remain the personal fiefdom of oligarchs, or political bosses, writes Foreign Policy.

The turnout of voters in this election was the lowest in recorded history of independent Ukraine. It says something that people are starting to get tired of new leaders and stagnation in the political process, according to the publication.

Any attempted change in the country hampered by the dominance of the oligarchs, such As Igor Kolomoisky and Rinat Akhmetov, who continue to thrive and enjoy an impressive influence on Ukrainian political life, emphasizes Foreign Policy. Their huge, unfair acquired by wealth allow them to sponsor several parties at the same time and compete only with each other. Thus, the competition between members of the 2 units broke in Dnepropetrovsk, where the fight came down to two candidates - Boris Filatov from the party of " Dill ", supported by Kolomoisky, and Alexander Vilkul, who is considered the protege of Akhmetov.

As the magazine stresses, in Odessa there has been an opposition of interests, which resulted in numerous violations in the elections, up to the accusations that a small electorate has paid and ordered to vote for a certain candidate. One observer, Vladislav Davidzon, said: "there have been violations in addition to outright theft of votes. It was the worst Election I have seen in a long time ".

Although such falsification, As in Odessa, was not observed in all cities, the overall trend remains disappointing.

Ukrainian politicians only want to bring the country closer to European standards. In fact, concludes the Creator of the article, " the scenery changed, but the ancient characters and Their greed has not disappeared ".
