Juncker and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stressed the need of reforms in justice of Ukraine

The head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and the head of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in the course of a telephone conversation on Tuesday agreed on the need to continue reforms in Ukraine in the field of energy, justice and combating illegal activities of officials, said the official authorized EC Margaritis Schinas.

"The two presidents agreed that Ukraine should continue on the path of reforms, the most in the areas of energy and justice, as well as doing battle with illegal activities of officials," said Chinas at a press conference Wednesday, explaining the results of the conversation.

according to his statement, Juncker and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko also recalled taken on their own shoulders the obligation on the entry into force of the Treaty on free trade between the EU and Ukraine as of 1 January 2016.

A free trade area between Ukraine and the EU, the formation of which is stipulated by the Association agreements with them, should operate in full on 1 January. Russia expresses concern and tells about the fear of an influx of duty free items from the EU through Ukraine.

a year earlier, Ukraine and the European Parliament ratified the Association agreement of the EU, part of which is the provision on free trade area. The Treaty between Ukraine and the EU entered into force, it required ratification of all 28 member States of the EU. The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine first expressed hope for ratification in the near future the remaining five countries of the Treaty on unity, for example, Italy, Czech Republic, Greece, Cyprus and Belgium.
