NASA is looking for a place to land on Mars The U.S. space Agency (NASA) began to look at the Mars landing site of the first in the history of mankind a manned spacecraft. It is assumed that the search for suitable sites will drag on for years. To this end, the Red planet will be sent an automatic orbital probes scouts.

Cosmic authority of the United States is considering to send its own 1 manned spacecraft to Mars not earlier than in 20 years, but in the moment, looked for the best place to land it. As explained NASA, this issue was discussed at the four-day conference at the Institute for the study of the moon and planets in Houston, which brought together scientists and engineers from different public and private entities.

"This is only the beginning of the conversation on this topic. Do not think that we will find the 1st place to land. Search of suitable locations on the red planet may go many years", - quotes TASS of the Deputy commander of NASA on scientific matters John Grunsfeld.

As we are told by the experts, to landing a manned machine on a flat area of 200 square km. Besides all this, the area needs to be useful natural resources, for example water ice, which could be applied by the members of future expeditions from Earth.

Remember that NASA intends to carry out 1st manned flight to Mars around the middle of 2030-ies with the help of his new ship "Orion" and a heavy launch vehicle, developed by Boeing. Training in this program will go in a few lines. One of them last week began on Earth: the Americans announced the start of selection of candidates for flight to Mars.
