Poroshenko concerned over Russia The head of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with EU Commissioner for trade Cecilia malmstr?m expressed concern about Russia's intention to enter the 2016 food embargo on Ukrainian goods, and also said that Kiev must be ready for the economic consequences.

According to the Ukrainian leader, the share of Russia in total volume of foreign trade of Ukraine decreased to 16%. Along with this, more than 37% of foreign trade of Ukraine now falls on member countries of the EU. Thus, as stressed by the participants of the meeting, Ukrainian exports to EU countries has great potential. The head of Ukraine appealed to the EU Commissioner with a request to support Ukrainian exports to the European Union States, for example by facilitating access to the EU market for Ukrainian products. On the last working day of the week Brussels tried to persuade Moscow not to enter the food embargo regarding Kiev after the entry into force on 1 January 2016, the economic part of the Treaty on the unity between Ukraine and the European Union. On Wednesday, the Minister of economic development Alexei Ulyukayev said that the Russian Federation in connection with the signing of the Treaty of unification of Ukraine and the EU is considering imposing relative to Kiev a number of measures, as well as among them food embargo. On 5 November the Head of Ministry of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine Oleksiy Pavlenko said that his country is ready for the introduction of Russia's ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products. Remember, after tripartite consultations on Association of Ukraine with the EU, held in early October, the head of the Ministry of economic development Alexey Ulyukaev stated that the Russian Federation is not satisfied with the EU's proposals. At the end of September, Prime Minister Medvedev D. A. said that the Russian Federation wants to switch to a normal trade regime with Ukraine, without preferences. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament on 16 September 2014 ratified the Association agreement Kiev and Brussels, however, the use of the free trade agreement was delayed until 2016.
