Russia is grateful to Syria for the efforts it is taking to ensure the security of Russian diplomats and citizens, said the Minister of foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov. But the current situation in the country is such that the need for these measures is not only not eliminated, but requires that they strengthen, he said.

"Sadly, such measures need continues and even increases, of 23 November on the territory of the Embassy again collapsed by a mortar shell," said Lavrov, opening negotiations with the Syrian officer Walid Muallem.

The head of the Foreign Ministry in addition promised that Moscow will continue to assist Damascus in fighting terrorism, RIA Novosti reported. "At the same time in the framework of the international support Group Syria will firmly start to achieve the objective, a democratic inclusive process in which Syrians themselves would define the fate of their own powers," he said.

This is not the 1st attack Russian Embassy in Damascus. A similar conflict was recorded on October 13 and 20 September. Mines fell on the territory of the Embassy, but without victims.
