Scientists: "Male" and "female" brain does not exist Israeli neuroscientists have not confirmed long-existing conjecture that there is a "male" and "female" brain. The study demonstrated that the cerebral cortex is a mosaic of traits that may occur among the followers of both sexes.

Israeli neuroscientists from the Institute of tel Aviv examined tomographic images of the brain of 1.5 thousand representatives of the stronger sex and the fairer sex. The purpose of the experiment was to see if in the cortex of the brain exclusively "male" and "female" areas, says New Scientist.

The study demonstrated that important sex differences in the structure of the gray matter of men and women do not exist. The brain is a mosaic of traits that mostly, but not necessarily meet, or the 1st floor or the other.

For example, the researchers noticed that the brain of each participant in the experiment contained at least 1 region, which is traditionally observed in representatives of "his" floor and 1 phase, which was distinctive for the opposite sex. Overall, the number of such rare plots was very small and accounted for 0-8% on the basis of selection of the tomograms.

Given the opinion of one of the authors, Daphne Joel acquired data indicate that sexual dimorphism of the brain does not exist. The expert suggests that the latest knowledge will allow to renounce the classical representation of a typical "male" and "female" brain, in order to begin to examine sex differences more comprehensively.
