In Pakistan arrested the famous Afghan model Known throughout the world of the Afghan woman, Sharbat Gula, which was depicted on the cover of National Geographic magazine is under arrest in Pakistan.

Sharbat Goulet was 12 when photographer Steve McCurry captured the image of her life in a camp for refugees from Afghanistan in Peshawar, Pakistan. She is currently 40 years. Sharbat Gula - also known as Sharbat Bibi was arrested in Peshawar on Tuesday for document fraud and illegal stay in Pakistan, the officials said.

If found guilty, the Rumble can be imprisoned for up to 14 years or be deported, said a lawyer for human rights, Zia Avan in Karachi. Last year the Rumble was arrested on similar charges but was later released. Photographer McCurry said he wants to help her legally and financially. "I object to this action by the authorities in the strongest possible terms," he said in a statement. "She suffered throughout her life. Her arrest is a flagrant violation of human rights."

The UN Agency for refugees (UNHCR) in Afghanistan announced that they would be able to help in case of Hum register as a refugee. UNHCR is unable to intervene, as she is not a registered refugee.
