The militants attacked the Iraqi city of Kirkuk In the Iraqi city of Kirkuk ISIS militants attacked several buildings. Dozens of gunmen attacked four police stations and offices of Kurdish security in Kirkuk. Clashes continue in southern part of the city, as of Friday morning, said the security personnel.

Officials were unable to give the exact number of dead and wounded. The images that are broadcast on local television showed the street of the dead and wounded soldiers. Local authorities imposed a curfew in Kirkuk amid attacks.

Kirkuk is located 175 kilometres (109 mi) South-East of Mosul, where a major military offensive continues for a week. Kirkuk was attacked by ISIS. The previous attacks were marked as attempts by ISIS to either capture the city or to divert Kurdish troops from fighting in Mosul. Kirkuk is 378 km (235 miles) North of Baghdad. ISIS militants opposed to the Iraqi government forces and the international coalition.

The Pentagon announced on Thursday evening that a U.S. serviceman died of injuries during an explosion in Northern Iraq. In a separate incident, the militants attacked a government building in the city of Dibis, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) Northwest of Kirkuk on Friday.

12 people were killed in the attack, including 9 Iraqi employees and 3 Iranian contractor, said the security personnel.
