NASA successfully launched rocket "Antares" NASA successfully launched rocket "Antares", which should deliver a cargo module "Cygnus" to the International space station.

Rocket "Antares" took off shortly before 8 p.m. local time, from wallops flight facility in Virginia. The rocket will arrive at the International space station on Sunday, when the crew will maneuver into position.

"Signus" will have 5,100 pounds (2,300 kg) of cargo for scientific experiments and supplies for the crew, according to NASA. The rocket was built by the American Corporation "Orbital ATK" with the participation of foreign partners.

"It's great to see how people came together and did it," said Frank Culbertson, the group's President of space systems at the "Orbital ATK". "It was done right, and this is important."

The launch was visible from much of East coast of the United States, as well as images poured into social media. Cygnus is planned to be separated from the space station in November, it will burn upon reentry into the dense layers of Earth's atmosphere.
