Stepfather Garcia-Moran said that his son was missing when he went to meet with friends in high school in Brentwood. The teenager's father said he was afraid that the boy might have been affiliated with a gang.

The police Commissioner said that the authorities are working to solve crimes and ensure the safety of residents in several ways, including an increased police presence with the use of specially trained officers to deal with gangs.
