The Prime Minister of Japan is concerned about the nuclear ambitions of the DPRK Nuclear ambitions of North Korea are one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, warned the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.

Speaking at the General Assembly of the United Nations in new York, Abe urged the Security Council to respond to North Korea's nuclear tests "in a manner quite different from our responses so far."

Pyongyang said it conducted a successful test of a nuclear warhead earlier this month, while this week tested a new type of high power rocket engine of the type which can be used for Intercontinental ballistic missiles.

More than 21 ballistic missiles were launched in North Korea this year, said Abe , some of them struck the water within the exclusive economic zone of Japan and 200 nautical miles from its coast. "It's just a matter of luck that no commercial plane or ship was not damaged during this incident," said Abe.

Also speaking on Wednesday, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang called for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the resumption of dialogue with Pyongyang. China is the only real ally of North Korea, and has long lobbied publicly against the nuclear program of Pyongyang. Despite this, the tests continued, and some analysts have warned that Beijing too is concerned about the potential collapse of the North Korean regime and the instability that will lead to the fact that you have to take action.

Lee met with U.S. President Barack Obama this week to discuss "cooperation in the Security Council of the United Nations, as well as in law enforcement channels for North Korea," said the White house.
