Tropical storm Hermione walked across the USA Tropical storm Hermione had gone hundreds of miles from shore in the Atlantic ocean and created large waves in some southern New England waters. Such waves are often lured surfers, despite the warning and the danger.

"There are more experienced surfers who live for the thrill," said Kim Buttrick, meteorologist the National weather service in Taunton, Massachusetts. The storm on Monday to the South-East of Nantucket created 20-foot waves and wind gusts of up to 50 kilometers per hour, about 55 miles South-East of the island, said Battrick. Even weakened, Hermione capable of wind gusts 30 to 50 mph are expected across southern Rhode island and southeastern Massachusetts, said Battrick.

Governors along the East coast declared a state of emergency. The tropical storm is moving to long island in new York in Massachusetts. Officials in new York have closed the beach because of the surfers who are dying, chasing thrills.

Police reported that at least 4 of the surfer was rescued at the place of the surf Rockaway beach. The lifeguard dived into the Atlantic ocean at Coney island to save a swimmer who violated the ban said that he felt like "a 300-pound guy pulls me back into the sea."

Hermione was born on the Gulf of Mexico and hit Florida on Friday as a category 1 hurricane before weakening to a tropical storm. This caused at least three deaths, the storm caused significant property damage from Florida to Virginia.

As the sea levels rose due to global warming, storm surges can be even more devastating, according to climatologists. "We are experiencing more and more floods due to climate change with each storm," said Michael Oppenheimer, Professor of Geosciences at Princeton University. "And this is only the beginning."
