At the airport in Turkey there was a terrorist attack. At least 36 people were killed, said the Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim. Another 147 people were injured, said the Minister of justice of Turkey Bekir Bozdag.

Witnesses describe deadly carnage, gunshots, screams and explosions. The attackers struck one of the busiest airport in the world. Sue savage at the airport accompanied a friend when she heard gunfire and then explosions. She ducked into the men's prayer room, and then into the men's room, where she hid in a cubicle with a young woman.

She and about 30 people were herded into the women's prayer room, before authorities brought them down on the escalator in the main hall of the terminal. The video shows people trying to escape, as well as a bright orange flash. The victim stagger and some fall on the floor, covered with blood.

At the moment it is known that suicide bombers were three. Two of them were near the terminals, and the third was in the Parking lot. They opened fire on people and then blew himself up. All three were bomb suicide belt.

The attack took place on a hot summer night in the airport, East of Istanbul, which is the 11th busiest in the world in terms of passenger traffic.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for unified international efforts to combat terrorism.

"There is no difference between Istanbul and London, Ankara and Berlin, Izmir and Antalya or Chicago and Rome," he said. "If all governments and all mankind will not unite their efforts in the fight against terrorism, it will be much worse than we are afraid to imagine today."

Officials from the U.S. Embassy in Ankara was sent to the airport to find out whether there are among victims of American citizens.
