The plane caught fire while crash landing The plane Singapore Airlines caught fire on Monday after an emergency landing in city-state's Changi airport.

Images uploaded to social media show how the flames had reached the wing of the aircraft.
"We were so close to death !! I'm still on the plane with all the passengers. But I think we're safe now ..." Passenger Lee Yi told the Bee on Facebook. From his seat, one of the passengers could see fire inside the plane, as firefighters doused it with foam.

Flight SQ368, Boeing 777-300ER, departed from Changi airport at around 2:25 a.m. June 27, with 222 passengers and 19 crew members, said Singapore Airlines.

The plane was expected to arrive in Milan at 8:45 am local time. Instead, after 2 hours of flight, the reported engine malfunction forced the pilot to turn back for an emergency landing. On arrival in Singapore, the right engine of the plane caught fire.

According to the statements of the company Singapore Airlines the fire was extinguished within a few minutes, and all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the plane. Passengers will be transferred to another flight due to go to Milan later on Monday. Singapore Airlines would cooperate with authorities in their investigations.
