Parliament approved a draft law banning the import of books from Russia
The Parliament of Ukraine adopted in first reading a government draft law on the mechanism of limiting access to the Ukrainian market of printed products "anti-Ukrainian content" from Russia.
The decision at a meeting on Thursday, supported by 250 parliamentarians when the required minimum of 226 votes. The document must undergo a second reading, RIA " Novosti ".



The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the bill at a Cabinet meeting on 8 September. Vice Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kyrylenko said that the books from Russia, as if that would be worn for Ukraine's "anti-state character" will not pass Ukrainian customs. Analysis Kirilenko, 60% of books from Russia will not go to Ukraine. It is planned that the mechanism of access to the Ukrainian market of printed products will only apply to books from Russia and those publications, which are imported from the " temporarily occupied territory ". For example, it involves the legal and physical entities, subjects of entrepreneurial activity, it does not touch the physical persons which are imported books. According to the document, the State Committee for television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine will create a Public Advisory Council, which will be at the request of the importers to check all products origin from Russia. Public Council within 10 days is obliged to accept the conclusion to grant permission or to refuse permission. The head of the Commission of the Public chamber of Russia on development of Public diplomacy and support of compatriots abroad Elena sutormina appealed to the Supreme Commissioner of the United Nations on human rights with the petition to give public assessment of the law banning imports of Russian books in Ukraine.
