Thousands celebrate Canada`s victory in men`s Olympic hockey final Thousands of Canadian fans flooded Vancouver`s streets, celebrating their team`s victory over the U.S. in the final match of the men`s hockey tournament at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Canada defeated its North American neighbor 3-2 on the last day of the Olympics, securing the 14th Vancouver gold and the lead in the gold medal count.

Canada was ready to celebrate victory, leading 2-1 in the third period, when U.S.`s Zach Parise tied the score just 25 seconds before the end of the period, sending the game to overtime.

However, the Canadians snatched the victory from the U.S. when NHL star Sidney Crosby scored a goal in the 8th minute of the overtime period.

The U.S. team failed to repeat its success in a preliminary-round game on February 21, when it defeated Canada 5-3.

The Canadian fans are walking along the streets, carrying Canadian national flags, crying "Go! Canada Go!" and causing traffic jams on city`s major highways.

The closing ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics will start in Vancouver in less than an hour.
