The head of the Department of police of San Francisco has resigned after the fatal police shooting of African-American women in the city of Bayview.

Police chief Greg Suhr has resigned from his post at the request of mayor ed Lee. 57-year-old Greg Suhr has already faced pressure to resign in the Wake of two racist and homophobic text messages scandals suspicious to them set.

His opponents held protests and hunger strikes in an attempt to force him to resign. The pressure increased when the four members of the Supervisory Board, has joined the calls for his resignation.

"I came to a different conclusion on the question of how best to move forward," said mayor Lee in a prepared statement issued on Thursday in the afternoon. "That's why I asked chief Suhr about his resignation. And in the interests of the city that he loves so much that he filed a resignation earlier today."

The mayor praised the outgoing Chapter as a "great man." "I'm always going to respect him," said Lee. The mayor said that his decision was influenced by recent events, as well as chronic tensions between police and minority communities in the city.

"These shootings, justified or not, was forced to open my eyes to questions about when and how the police uses force with a deadly outcome."

The latest shooting happened Thursday morning in the African-American Bayview district. 27-year-old woman who stole a car, was fatally shot by a Sergeant of police of San Francisco. It is unclear whether the girl armed. Regarding the shooting is under investigation.
"Although the facts are still emerging," said the mayor, "the community is grieving, and I join them in their grief."

In his statement, Lee said the division has made significant progress in its efforts to reform.
