U.S. woman killed daughter with a disability out of pity In Illinois, the district court sentenced the woman to 4 years in prison for the murder of 28-year-old daughter of the disabled person.

Despite requests for leniency from family and friends, the judge of Illinois, and the district court sentenced Bonnie Lits to four years of imprisonment. She's charged with drugs and the murder of her 28-year-old disabled daughter in a failed suicide attempt almost a year ago, said her lawyer.

"Bonnie was absolutely crushed," said lawyer Thomas Glasgow, adding that bail has not released her, and she was immediately taken into custody. At a time when she was handcuffed to the table in the courtroom, she held his hand for 15 minutes and sobbed, said Glasgow.

Assistant attorney Michael Gerber recommended that only 4 years of probation and counselling for mental health to Lits, although the law in such cases provides for up to 14 years imprisonment.

"This case was a tragedy for all involved, and given the very tragic extenuating circumstances, we felt that probation, not imprisonment is the right punishment," the Prosecutor said.

56-year-old of Lits thought daughter would be better in heaven, and that there she will find peace and not be tormented. About it the woman told district judge Joel Greenblatt last week. The mother, who suffers from "profound" health problems, said Glasgow, pleaded guilty last week to manslaughter after prosecutors lowered the original charge of murder.

Of lits is suffering from ovarian cancer. Woman killed daughters, fearing that they will die and it will be no one to look after. Her daughter suffered from cerebral palsy. "I'd like nothing more than to turn the clock back and be able to care for her again," said Lits judge may 11 at her sentencing hearing.
