Brazil has blocked WhatsApp The judge is allowed to restore the application messaging WhatsApp throughout Brazil. It is unclear when the service will be available to WhatsApp users in Brazil.

As expected, the app will be restored as soon as the operators will be notified about the judge's decision. A regional judge on Monday ordered all telephone operators in Brazil to block WhatsApp, a popular application for messaging to pass data as part of the ongoing investigation of drug trafficking.

The app ceased to function during the second half of the day, the frustration of Brazilians, there was no limit, they regularly use this application. According to the website Sergipe state Tribunal, the application will be locked for 72 hours.

Jan koum, CEO and co-founder of the messaging service, made the statement on his page on Facebook in response to the blocking:

"Millions of innocent Brazilians punished, because the court wants WhatsApp to get the information that we have," he said. "Not only do we encrypt messages in WhatsApp to save the information of people in security, we also do not keep chat history on our servers. When sending an encrypted message, anyone else read it."

This is not the first time WhatsApp has been targeted by judges. In March, Vice President Latin America was arrested after authorities said that Facebook refused to decrypt the data from WhatsApp to protect its users.

In December last year, the judge of the state of sö¸o Paulo blocked the service within 48 hours after WhatsApp had not responded to two resolutions of the court "in a criminal case."
