VICTORIA Beckham has consoled angry Cheryl Cole after explicit photos of her hubby Ashley ended up on a topless model`s mobile.

Last night the couple were seen together for the first time since The Sun told yesterday how images of the Chelsea footballer had been sent to busty glamour girl Sonia Wild, 28.

Cheryl, 26, sat stoney-faced in the front of a chauffeur-driven car which picked up Ashley, 29, from a North London hospital, where he had surgery for a broken ankle. He lay resting in the back.

Earlier, pal Victoria had phoned X Factor star Cheryl immediately after reading our story.

And she has told the Girls Aloud singer she can get over her marriage woes by staying at the Beckhams` LA mansion.

One of the photos showed her ?82,000-a- week husband naked on a hotel bed.

She will then meet her mother and three sons back in Los Angeles, and hopes Cheryl will join them.

A family friend said: "Victoria just wants to make sure Cheryl is OK. The offer`s there - and you can`t get a more relaxing and private environment than Vic`s LA home.

"If Cheryl needs some time to think and reflect, the Beckhams` is the place to go."

Ashley has protested innocence over the pics, taken in June last year.

He told The Sun he had taken the shots of himself for fun on an unregistered pay-as-you-go phone, then forgot to delete them before giving it to a pal.

That person gave the mobile to another friend, who sent the frames to Sonia. She replied with naked videos of herself.

The Cole images were sent on June 9 - the day before England beat Andorra 6-0 in a home World Cup qualifier.

Ashley had stayed at the five-star Grove in Kings Langley, Herts.

He will now have to explain to Cheryl why he took the sexually explicit snaps of himself on an unregistered phone, and why they were taken in a hotel room.

Posh, 35, comforted Cheryl two years ago when The Sun published 24-year-old hairdresser Aimee Walton`s claims they had a one-night stand.

While there is no suggestion Cole cheated with Sonia, he was given an ultimatum after the Aimee case never to betray Cheryl and to keep to a curfew on nights out.
