MIA of Ukraine initiated the implementation of the presumption of innocence of the police officer, said the Head of Department Arsen Avakov.




"The imperative of the presumption of innocence of police officer has become a social norm! First to obey the police - then ob?aluj? in the mandatory package of initiatives to maintain security, preparing for submission to Parliament, the Ministry of the interior will propose to the MPs to implement this provision in the legislative field, " - wrote Avakov on his page in Facebook. The Minister considers that law enforcement bodies should receive more rights. He cited the example of several European countries and also the USA and Canada, where such a rule is valid. Avakov said that " other way of building an effective law enforcement system ". Before the reform of the police of the Ukrainian government was planning to introduce a rule of presumption of innocence of the police officer. She suggests that "a law enforcement officer is always right" until, as long as the court can prove otherwise. The initiative has caused negative reviews in the society, for this reason, the norm was not included in the reform of the police, RIA " Novosti ".
