Trump will "fight fire with fire" President Donald trump said he wants to "fight fire with fire" when it comes to stopping terrorism, suggesting that it can be opened to return the torture, because he "absolutely" believes that it works.

Trump said that "people at the highest level of intelligence" told him that torture really work. Trump said in an interview with ABC News. "I understand that we must fight fire with fire." But he also said that he will respect the recommendations of the Minister of defence James Mattis, who opposes enhanced interrogation, CIA Director Mike Pompeo, who told senators earlier this month that he would not authorize the use of torture. Pompeo said later that he will consider the question of the return of waterboarding and other enhanced interrogation under certain circumstances.

"I will rely on Pompeo and Mattis, and for my band. And if they don't want to make torture a good thing." Trump said. "And if you want to do torture, I will work in this direction." Democrats and Republicans rejected the idea of the return of torture techniques that were used by the Bush administration after the attacks of 11 September 2001. Pompeo said earlier this month that he was "absolutely against" the use of the CIA enhanced interrogation tactics that go beyond the army field manuals.
