In St. Petersburg celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the complete lifting of the blockade of Leningrad. Today there will be dozens of commemorative events.

73 years ago on 27 January ended almost 900 days the siege of Leningrad. This date is the day when the city was saved from Nazi invaders, in the Northern capital is always celebrated widely. Solemn events traditionally begin at the house N14 on Nevsky prospect, where the inscription of the war years: "This side of the street is most dangerous when shelling". Today here are fresh flowers. On the eve of the flowers to the memorial at Piskarevsky cemetery was placed ex-Governor of St. Petersburg, speaker of the upper chamber of Parliament Valentina Matvienko.
