London United against terror In London crowds of people gathered in the city center to pay tribute to the victims of a brutal act of terrorism. Helicopters flew over Trafalgar square - a place for protests, celebrations and rallies, but increasingly it became a place of impromptu vigil after the recent terrorist attacks in Europe.

During the working day, hundreds of people came to the square, and together with the mayor, the Minister of internal Affairs, the police and leaders of several religious communities, they designed a demonstration of solidarity and defiance around the world.

"Today we are gathered together as Londoners, to remember all those who have suffered this terrible attack yesterday. But in order to send a clear message that Londoners will never succumb to terrorism," said the mayor Sadiq Khan the crowd. "Those evil and twisted individuals who are trying to destroy our way of life, you will never achieve success, and we condemn them".

Four street artist sketched a colorful message of solidarity on the stone slabs in front of the National gallery.

By evening, the crowd slowly dispersed, when the sun and pink clouds swept across the sky. Others gathered at the base of the fountain to light candles, protected from the harsh cold wind.
