US intercepted Russian Tu-95 in Alaska Two Russian Tu-95 bomber was intercepted in international airspace off the coast of Alaska two American F-22 Raptor on Monday, the Pentagon confirmed.

The interception, which was described by a military official of the US as safe and professional, occurred about 100 miles from the island of Kodiak, after a Russian plane flew into the area of Alaska identification defense. Between pilots of the USA and Russia there was no radio, the official representative of the United States.

American military officials called the interaction in the air as "nothing unusual" and "not similar to what we saw in the past against the Russian long-range aviation". But the Congressman from the Republican party of Illinois Adam Kinzinger said the Russians "are trying to show their teeth", flying so close to the coastline of the United States in terms of tensions between the two countries.

"It was a show of force from the Russian side, to show us that they're still here," said Kinzinger. It was "trying to get as close to our international borders to see what will be our response".

Recently, President Donald trump took a more skeptical view on the possibility of improving relations with the Kremlin. "At the moment we do not get along with Russia. We may have the lowest level from the point of view of relations with Russia", - said trump at a press conference at the White house last week.
