United States and Qatar signed a Memorandum on the fight against terrorism United States and Qatar signed a Memorandum of understanding on combating terrorism, which the Secretary said Rex Tillerson, can help solve the worst diplomatic crisis that shook the Arab States of the Persian Gulf over the last decade.

"I hope that we will be able to make some progress," said Tillerson during a joint press conference in Doha with Minister of foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheik Mohammed al-Thani. Tillerson went to the middle East to try to resolve the standoff between Qatar and other Gulf countries which he accused his oil-rich neighbor of supporting terrorism.

In fact, this dispute reflects longstanding frustration in the Persian Gulf independent foreign policy of Qatar, including support for Islamist groups and its ties with Iran with whom Qatar shares the world's largest gas field.

Regional family feud threatens to undermine the Central foreign policy goal of the administration trump: all Gulf countries involved in the dispute are members of a US-led coalition fighting ISIS, and Qatar played the most important role. It is home to the largest American military base in the middle East, where koordiniruyutsya flights against the terrorist group.

Tillerson said that work on the Memorandum of understanding lasts for a year. It outlines a number of steps that the two countries will take in the coming months and years: "abort, turn off the flow of terrorist financing, and to intensify efforts to combat terrorism around the world," he said.

The agreement includes milestones to ensure that both countries were accountable to their commitments. "Together, the US and Qatar to do more to track the sources of funding, to cooperate and to share information and to do more to keep the region and our homeland security," said Tillerson.
