Boy George found prison "fun" The former Culture Club singer served four months in jail last year for the assault and false imprisonment of a male escort in his East London apartment. He dreaded his sentence, but was surprised to find he quite enjoyed his time in prison because his fellow inmates were so friendly.

"I was inside for four months and it wasn`t entirely unpleasant, surprisingly," the 48-year-old star told BBC Radio 2. "It wasnýt, like, awful, because obviously it becomes your life.

"You`re in there, and it just becomes where you are, and you just get on with it. You do have fun, and you do laugh, it?s kind of a bizarre experience. You meet a lot of really great people."

George found his prison uniform most entertaining, because the plain white uniform was so different to his usual flamboyant outfits. He often burst into laughter after catching a glimpse of his reflection while working in the prison kitchen.

"You laugh at the sort of situation you`re in really," he said. "I was working in the kitchen, cooking all the vegetarian food and I had to wear this white outfit with this little hat and in those situations, you do catch a glimpse of yourself in the reflection of the fridge and think, `How did this happen?` "

George`s comeback album Amazing Grace is due for release later this year.
