Houston rescuers continue to struggle with flooding Houston rescuers continue to struggle with flooding. "The coast guard continues to receive more than 1000 calls per hour," said on Monday, the U.S. coast guard Lieutenant Mike HART. "Today the coast guard rescued more than 3,000 people, including lifeboats".

Houston police rescued 1,000 people Monday morning, bringing the total number rescued over 3,000 people since the storm flooded the city, said the mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner on Monday evening.

When hurricane Harvey brought the rain in East Texas, and the water rose, people began to panic, rushing for the lifeboats, and even shooting them, if they are not stopped, said one rescue volunteer. Due to the hostile actions of the Navy Kaguna had to stop some attempts of salvation, Cain said.

There is no indication that the water stops rising soon. Forecasters predict even more rain. President trump said Monday that the recovery from hurricane Harvey will be a "long and difficult path," but predicted that the country will be "bigger, better, stronger than ever before."
