The Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation clearly expressed our country's position on the referendum in Catalonia.

Our diplomats have stated that Russia always guided by international law in the context of which a referendum on independence and all the subsequent events are purely internal affair of Spain.

It is our hope that all parties to the conflict sit down at the negotiating table to resolve all issues in a peaceful manner without prejudice to the rights and security of the citizens of Spain and Catalonia in particular.
