A plane crashed on Wednesday in the Libyan capital of Tripoli, killing 105 people, the AFP news agency said, citing police sources.

The plane, en route from South Africa, crashed during landing. There is as yet no news on the type of aircraft involved.

The police source said that 94 passengers and 11 crew members died.

An investigation is underway into the circumstances of the crash.
