Amanda Seyfried: exercising frantically is a "waste of time" The 24-year-old is well known for her trim physique, and does work out regularly. She refuses to get too obsessive about her trips to the gym though, insisting there are more important things in life than counting calories or lifting weights.

"I used to live, eat and sleep by an exercise schedule, and I couldn`t enjoy myself if I didn`t exercise. And then I realised - what a waste of time! My soft parts are probably never going away," she explained to the June issue of Self magazine. "I mean, at the end of the day, if you can`t have a Girl Scout cookie and a piece of cheese, what is life all about?"

Amanda now runs for 30 minutes five times a week and also practices Pilates. She insists that is enough exercise to keep in shape, and doesn?t advise women to do any more. The actress also is tired of hearing and reading about how women should look, explaining the pressure to be thin in Hollywood is immense.

"People may seem perfect, but that`s because they spend thousands on trainers and diets and surgeries," she said. "If you have a negative body image, exercise, but not for your appearance. The main thing you can change is how you perceive yourself. Stop looking in the mirror and realise that you`re living for yourself, not other people."
