The Italian government wishes to seek a review of anti-Russian sanctions, said Deputy Prime Minister and the head of the Ministry of economic development Luigi Di Maio. About it has informed news Agency ANSA.

Di Maio has noticed that sanctions concerning the Russian capital caused great harm Italian businesses. According to his statement, if organizations suffer huge losses due to the restrictions against Russia, the sanctions policy should be reconsidered.

"Against the notorious anti-Russian punishment We are fighting and will fight, but not because We love the Russian or American citizens. We uphold the wishes of Italy, " - said Deputy Prime Minister.

The Cabinet of Italy established the need for the cancellation of anti-Russian economic restrictions in the "government contract" signed by the party to the "League" and " five star Movement ", whose leader is Di Maio. The document notes that Moscow is "not a threat, and an increasingly important trade and economic partner" for Rome.

The Prime Minister of Italy, Giuseppe Conte had previously said that the Government will work on the removal of penalties relative to Russia. Speaking at a press conference on results of G7 summit in Canada, he said that Moscow plays a key role in resolving many international crises and acts as a major player in the current geopolitical context.

in 2014 amid the conflict in Ukraine, the European Union has imposed punishment Against Russia. Then the West made several conclusions about the extension of the injunction, and linked their removal with the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Moscow responded to punishment and embargo and took a course on import substitution. Russia has emphasized many times that it is not a party to domestic conflict or subject to the " Minsk-2 ", and the introduction of penalties is counterproductive.
