Zelensky is going to check the law on language for compliance with the Constitution Vladimir Zelensky, who won in the 2nd round of elections of the President of Ukraine, promised to test the law on the state language on the rights and interests of the Residents.

in his vision, the draft law has become a "hostage to political rhetoric," because he was treated during the election cycle. Moreover, the decision was made without public discussion, and to evaluate the implications is impossible, because the final text is not yet available.

As said the leader of the presidential elections, Ukraine is facing many challenges and among them is " Russian aggression, slow economic development, mass emigration of Ukrainians abroad, total corruption ", for this reason, must make the laws that unite society, and not Vice versa.

However, Zelensky noticed that the only official language in Ukraine must be Ukrainian.

on Thursday the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law " on ensuring the functioning of Ukrainian As the state language ". According to him the citizens are obliged to communicate in Ukrainian in almost all areas of life, as well as among public authorities and social institutions - educational institutions, universities, hospitals and the enterprises of sphere of service.

Also, the use of the national language will be compulsory in the courts, army, police, commercials, election campaigns and referendums. Exceptions are made only for social and religious ceremonies.

The document envisages the development of a special "language Board" and of the Commissioner for its protection. Penalty or any penalty for offenders is provided.

The procedure for the use of the Crimean Tatar and other languages of indigenous peoples and national minorities will determine a special law that elected officials will make in six months.

The current head Petro Poroshenko has promised to sign the bill.
