Two Russian strategic Tu-160 landed in the South African airfield Waterkloof, informs the Ministry of defence.

"Flying long-range aircraft passed over the waters of the Caspian and Arabian seas and the Indian ocean," according to the report.

The aircraft spent in the air for over 13 hours and overcame during this time period, more than eleven thousand kilometers. During the flight the crews performed aerial refueling.

in the latter stages of the route of the Tu-160 was accompanied by South African fighter Saab JAS 39.

As noted in the Ministry of defence, in the air group also includes Aircraft of the military transport aircraft Il-62 and An-124 " Ruslan ". The purpose of the visit to South Africa in the Ministry said the development of bilateral military cooperation and the development of cooperation between Russian space forces and the air force of South Africa.

This is not the 1st foreign visit of the aircraft of the Russian long-range aviation. In early winter of last year, Two Tu-160, An-124 and Il-62 has visited Venezuela at the invitation of the leadership of this state. They made a General flight from the Venezuelan air force, and then returned to the airfield in Russia.
