Lindsay Lohan receives 90-day jail term Lindsay Lohan has been sentenced to 90 days in jail after breaching the terms of her probation.

The actress was at a Beverly Hills court on Tuesday to see if she would face jail time following allegations she had violated her court order relating to her 2007 conviction for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Lindsay wore black trousers, a black top and sunglasses as she arrived ten minutes early for her 8.30am hearing with Judge Marsha Revel. Her father, Michael Lohan, and her sister, Ali Lohan, were also present.

The star was ordered to appear before Judge Revel after repeated claims she hadn`t attended enough of her court-ordered alcohol education lessons. Lindsay is currently wearing an alcohol monitoring ankle bracelet, known as a SCRAM bracelet, and must submit to weekly random drug tests. It had been reported the SCRAM bracelet was triggered during an evening out last month, but Lindsay`s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley claimed the equipment was faulty and the star had not been drinking.

At Tuesday`s hearing Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers attempted to present evidence that Lindsay consumed alcohol after the MTV Movie Awards in June, but Judge Revel decided she would only consider if Lindsay had violated her probation by failing to attend her alcohol education classes.

The hearing was delayed after Judge Revel ordered Right On Programs, which run the alcohol education classes Lindsay has been attending, to hand over paperwork detailing the actress` progress to both legal teams - they had previously refused to do so.

Later, Cheryl Marshall, co-owner of Right On Programs, provided a testimony saying Lindsay was not in compliance with the program in May and August 2009. Marshall also said the court hadn`t been notified that Lindsay had missed nine scheduled classes since December and hadn`t given a reason for her absence.

Before the sentence was passed, an emotional Lindsay addressed Judge Revel and begged for understanding. "I just wanted to take a minute to say that as far as I knew I was being compliant with my program. When I would ask to leave town they would give me permission. I wasn`t expecting any special treatment except that I have to provide for myself and they were willing to work with me," she said through tears.

"That was the only special treatment they gave me. Having said that I did everything I was told to do and did the best I could to balance my jobs and showing up. I know I was ordered to go once a week. I`m not taking this as a joke. This is my life. This is the only time? honestly it did wake me up and it scared me. I thought it was OK that I missed those classes. Had I known differently I would have made sure I was in town each week and balance my work.

"It`s just been such a long haul and I don`t want you to think that I don`t respect you."

Despite her heartfelt plea, Judge Revel sentenced the star to 90 days in jail and three months in a rehab facility. The star must attend a treatment centre within two days of leaving prison.

"I couldn`t have been more clear [about my orders]," Revel said, who added she found Lindsay`s apology insincere. "There are no excuses."

Lindsay will begin her sentence on July 20, and is expected to serve it at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California - the same jail she served 84 minutes of a 24-hour sentence three years ago.

After she leaves rehab, Lindsay won`t be allowed to drink alcohol until her probation ends in August 2011.

It is unknown how much jail time Lindsay will actually serve. Los Angeles Sheriff`s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore has said non-violent prisoners are often released early due to over-crowding. Lindsay could potentially be released on house arrest or after serving a quarter of her term, but it will depend on orders laid down by Judge Revel.

Michael and Ali cried as Lindsay was sentenced. Michael had previously asked Judge Revel if he could speak to her in chambers, but she refused. He has repeatedly claimed Lindsay is addicted to prescription medication, which she has always denied. Michael wanted his daughter to be sentenced to rehab not prison, and spoke of his devastation after the hearing.

"This (jail) is the last thing I wanted for my daughter," he told RadarOnline. "It crushed me. I broke down in court, like I am now. Lindsay needs to go into a rehab that takes you off prescription drugs not puts you on them."
