About 6 millions of people in Russia use drugs regularly and 1.5-1.8 millions of people have illness of drug addiction.

These data was announced during visit to Washington of the head of Russian Federal service for drug circulation control Victor Cherkesov.

He also noted that situation stabilized during last 2 years. "Previous 10-15 years in Russia we noticed surprising dynamics of drug addicted and sick people", - said Cherkesov. By his words this dynamics was just distressing. "At the end of 80-s we started with tens of thousands people and now came to the amount of 1.8 millions".

The absence of drug addicted growth in Russia indicates that "it is in our power to influence on the amount of users".

"Moreover, we also set a goal to decrease amount of drug addicted by 1 million people", - said Cherkesov.
