The next edition of the Festival of the World`s Symphony Orchestras dedicated to the Day of Russia has opened in Moscow. The world`s top conductors will lead the best East European orchestras this year.

The festival was first held in 2006, but ever since it has become the highlight of the capital`s musical season. Over the years it has seen the participation of the most renowned orchestra conductors and orchestras themselves.

This year amongst the star conductors are Israeli Pinchas Steinberg, legendary Krzysztof Penderecki of Poland, Vladimir Spivakov and Yury Kochnev, representing Russia.

The festival will traditionally pass within six evenings. This year orchestras from the Eastern Europe will be the guests of the Festival. Each orchestra`s program combines popular classical pieces with national masterpieces.

George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra from Bucharest, Romania the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia from Poland and two orchestras from Russia - the United Saratov Symphony Orchestra and the National Philharmonic of Russia will perform Beethoven, Bruckner and Shostakovich, along with works by Dvorak, Smetana, Enescu, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Prokofiev and others.

The National Philharmonic of Russia under Vladimir Spivakov will please the audience with a special program dedicated to Sergey Rachmaninov. Young pianist Aleksandr Romanovsky will be performing the famous Rachmaninov Piano Concerto Number 3.

The main feature of this year`s festival is that all six concerts will see the participation of the young fellow members of the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation. This initiative gives young musicians an opportunity to perform alongside world-famous musicians, while foreign guests become acquainted with the latest achievements of Russian musical education.
