The actress and Wicked Wisdom singer - who is married to Will Smith - said she turned down the chance for her band to tour with Guns N` Roses so she could concentrate on raising their children, Jaden, 12 and Willow, 10.

She told Redbook Magazine: "I had to make choices. Believe me, I would still be on the road with my band Wicked Wisdom, and making as many movies as I can a year, and doing all sort of things if I didn`t have the responsibility of a family.

"But I have children with their own talents and dreams, and I know I have to be standing next to them for that journey."

Jaden is a budding film star, having appeared alongside his father in `The Pursuit of Happyness` and starring in `The Karate Kid`, while Willow has started a pop career, scoring a huge hit with her single `Whip My Hair`.

Jada, 39, added while her children don`t have the most normal upbringing in Hollywood with huge stars as parents, she is just glad they don`t have to be "in a house with drugs in a war zone."

She said: "It still makes me nervous that they`re part of something that isn`t totally real. But it`s up to Will and me to teach them what`s real and what`s not."
