DAVID Beckham`s wife Victoria yesterday gave birth to their first girl - named Harper Seven.

Becks, 36, shed tears of joy as he saw his 7lb 10oz daughter born.

The footie ace, whose Man Utd and England number was seven, announced the name nine hours after her birth.

He wrote on his Facebook page: "I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham. She weighed a healthy 7lb and 10oz.

"Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister."

A source in Los Angeles said: "The couple loved the name Harper. It has no hidden meaning - they just fell for the name and think it has a lovely sound.

"They went for Seven as a middle name as they think it is a lucky and spiritual number. And the baby arrived around 7am in July - the seventh month."

Harper is a popular name in the US - for girls AND boys.

Victoria, 37, has appeared in glossy mag Harper`s Bazaar several times.

The most famous Harper is probably Harper Lee, female author of To Kill A Mockingbird.

Baby Harper - sister to Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six - was yesterday revealed to look just like her ex-Spice Girl mum.

A source said: "She is the double of Victoria as a little girl."

The source in Los Angeles - where Posh, 37, underwent a pre-booked Caesarean delivery at the private Cedars Sinai clinic - said: "David has been crying with joy. They are all so happy."

The baby arrived at 3.55pm UK time - 7.55am in the US.

Becks fired himself up for the birth by scoring as his side LA Galaxy won 2-1 on Saturday. Romeo tucked into candy floss as he watched. Later Becks met Wills and Kate on their official California tour.

Last night the royal couple were among the first to congratulate Posh and Becks - by text message.

Rumours are rife Wills and Kate may be asked to act as godparents.
