The Transformers saga has set an impressive record in Russia, becoming one of the five highest-grossing movies in the country`s entire box office history.
´Dark Side of the Moon, the third installment of the Transformers franchise from Michael Bay, has already fetched $45 million, while it is still being released across the country and CIS states.
In fact, Bay`s film had its world premiere in the Russian capital earlier this year when it opened the Moscow International Film festival. The director and the lead actors attended the star-studded festive event.
With a budget of $195 million, Transformers 3, even without its permanent fixture - bombshell Megan Fox - has raked in $1 billion from around-the-world takings.
The box office leader in Russia, however, appeared to be Oscar winning James Cameron, whose blue-skinned extravaganza, Avatar, collected more than $117.1 million. Cameron`s record was "met halfway" by the Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides, which gathered $57 million on the Russian territory.
Animated comedies Shrek Forever After and Ice Age also proved popular among Russians and grossed about $50 million each. sections: Celebrities |
