Roll up for the history tour! Cyclists ride Moscow by night A thousand Muscovites got on their pushbikes and rode off into the night to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Russian victory over Napoleon in the War of 1812.

΄The challenge was to cover about 30 kilometers across the Russian capital, accompanied by local road police.

Crowds of cyclists, many of them young couples in love, got together to have fun zigzagging across Moscow`s boulevards in the middle of the night.

The only condition for taking part in the marathon was to wear headphones with an FM-radio tuned in, to enable each and every biker to listen to a lecture by a history professor, who masterminded the route for the riders.

The feedback from the night was mostly positive, with the only drawback being the weather and the pace of the tour, which some fans found too fast.
