A new prize was instituted in Russia: "Great book".

Federal Agency of press and mass communications, culture and cinematography, Russian literature Institute and All-Russian State TV and Radio company are among founders of the new prize.

The prize "Great book" and other literary awards have a mission to increase a status of modern Russian literature and to attract readers? attention to it. The prize will be awarded for prose works of different genres.

The first prize is 3 mln of rubles, the second - 1.5 mln and the third - 1 mln.

Novels, tales, collected stories and even manuscripts written in Russian and exceeding 10 printer`s sheets (about 250 book sheets).

Selection of candidates will be made in two phases. First all works will be read by expert-readers. They will select the best works and send them to "literary academy" - jury that will be composed of 100 writers, librarians, critics, journalists, cinematographers, businessmen. Members of the "Academy" will name winners.
