The U.S. air force ordered a cruise missile at $449 million The air forces of the United States has signed with South American firm Lockheed Martin a contract to supply 440 cruise missiles AGM-158 JASSM, informs Flightglobal.

The deal amounted to 449 million. The agreement was signed in mid-December 2013, but they learned about it exclusively now. The purchase was perfect in the framework of a broader program to equip the South American air force new cruise missiles.

Under the agreement, Lockheed Martin will be obliged to transfer to the air force of the United States 340 missiles JASSM in basic version as well as 100 missiles of this type with increased flight range (JASSM-ER). The agreement among other things provided by the service offer maintenance, delivery devices and testing equipment. Given fresh batch of missiles of the total order JASSM of the us air force has increased to 2.1 thousand units.

JASSM entered service of the United States in 2009. Weight of the ammunition is 907 kg
