This Friday official birthday of Russian Grandfather Frost will be celebrated in Vologda region.

This was informed by coordinator of "Veliky Ustyug - motherland of Grandfather Frost" project Oleg Pamyatov.

"The exact age of winter wizard is not known for sure, but it is more than 2000 years. Date of Grandfather Frost` birthday was fabricated by children because a real winter comes into force on November 18 in his patrimony Veliky Ustyug and frosts hit", - explained Pamyatov.

By his words, numerous relatives will arrive to congratulate fairy birthday boy - Santa Claus from Finland, Chishan - Yakutat Grandfather Frost, Karelian Pakkaine, winter wizard Mikulash from Czechia, and also official delegations from Vologda, Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, Murmansk, Kostroma, Archangelsk, Tolyatti, Karelian and Saha republics.

Official celebration of birthday will start on Friday.

The day before interregional festival of game programs "We like Grandfather Frost`s fun" started in Veliky Ustyug. Creative works and performers from various Russian regions participated in this festival.

On Friday afternoon Grandfather Frost will light large fir-tree at central square of Veliky Ustyug and will meet guests and citizens of town, accept presents from them.

After that theatre performance will start at stadium with participation of folk groups and fairy characters.

"After holiday Grandfather Frost will go on his traditional New Year tour over Russian cities".
