Liberian ex-minister of Finance Helen Johnson-Sirlif won presidential elections of the country.

According to results of Election committee, she got 59.4% of votes in the second tour of presidential elections.

Her opponent, ex-football player millionaire Jorge Weah, got 40.6% of votes.

Therefore, 67-year old Johnson-Sirlif, veteran of Liberina politics, became the first woman in history of Africa who took position of state head.

Weah disputed results of elections and appealed to Election committee with facts of violations during elections.

His supporters, youth in majority, arranged mass disorders in Monrovia. But foreign political observers recognized elections in Liberia "free and clear". 15000 of UNO peace-makers provided organization of elections.

Helen Johnson-Sirlif took up a post of minister of finance in Liberia. For critique of military regime of Samuel Dou Johnson-Sirlif was imprisoned and expelled from country.
