European Union greeted election to Chechen parliament, calling it as step towards democracy. EU hopes that "new parliament will bring more democratic responsibility to Chechen politics".

"Presidency of European Union considers this parliament election as important step towards more wide representation of various view at Chechen society", - was said in announcement, signed by Great Britain, the chairman of EU at present moment.

EU also appeals to Moscow with request to investigate every message about violations and frightening cases during elections. European Union refers to the fact that some representatives of Russian authorities and observers admitted that election was not ideal.

Election to Chechen parliament was held last Sunday. By Tuesday morning votes from 306 out of 430 election centers were counted. With evident advantage the leader is "Unified Russia", which collected 60.38% of votes. The second place takes Communist Party of Russian Federation with 12.05% of votes, the third place - Union of Right Powers, which got 11.14%. The rest 5 parties didn`t pass 5% barrier. By tentative data, attendance was 68%.
